I’m Batman…
Okay maybe I’m not Batman. But this weekend my son was. On Tuesday last week he debuted part of a LEGO Batman costume I made at a local Barnes & Noble event for the 75th anniversary of Batman. At that event, he took 1st place in the kids costume contest.
After the contest I was determined to finish the costume before the FantaSci Convention at the Chesapeake Library 4 days later. I created “LEGO” arms out of foam and build “LEGO” legs out of cardboard and foam. I even added a bat-a-rang accessory. I wanted to redo the helmet to correct the ears but I ran out of time.
Fortunately the helmet didn’t seem to be an issue. His costume was huge success. When we first walked in, we started to put his costume on in a corner over by the bathroom. While he was getting dressed, he was already gathering an audience (a little creepy?). From the moment he walked in, he couldn’t walk more than 3 feet without someone asking him to take a picture. Of course due to the “LEGO” legs he didn’t walk very fast. He walked the whole floor once and had dozens of pictures taken.
At the costume competition, he won Best in Show – SciFi for the under 18 category.
